ETC prescribes tuning in to its newest medical drama, Emily Owens M.D.

Welcome to Denver Memorial Hospital, where the professionals are practicing medicine and working at life. Aired every Monday at 9PM on ETC, Emily Owens, M.D. tells the story of an intern doctor who after the hell she went through as a high school student, feels she can finally breathe as she starts her new life as a grown-up. But as she’s about to discover, her internship is going to be a lot like high school. From backstabbing, romance, to gossip, it’s high school all over again.

Emily Owens (Mamie Gummer), a fresh graduate from medical school is about to embark on her internship at Denver Memorial Hospital. Fellow intern Tyra Dupre (Kelly McCreary) warns Emily that like high school, the hospital also has its own cliques. The jocks have become orthopedic surgeons; the mean girls are plastic surgeons; the rebels are in the Emergency Room, and Tyra has her own awkward place as the principal’s kid – her father Dr. Tim Dupre (Harry Lennix) is the chief resident.

Before Emily can wrap her head around this information she discovers that her high school nemesis, the gorgeous and popular Cassandra Kopeslon (Aja Naomi King) is also a new intern at the hospital. She may have a new friend in Tyra, but it doesn’t take long for Emily to realize that the long-standing rivalry between herself and Cassandra is only going to escalate as they compete to impress the intelligent Dr. Gina Bandari (Necar Zadegan), their mentor. Another source of competition between the two will be for the attention of Emily’s med-school crush Will Collins (Justin Hartley). Although Will has made it clear that he only wants to be friends with Emily, she has to admit it bothers her just to see Will and Cassandra talking together.

Meanwhile, Emily is also getting to know the slightly nerdy, but smart and handsome resident Dr. Micah Barnes (Michael Rady). Faced with his own family issues, Emily becomes a great source of support for him which leads to the two becoming close both professionally and personally.

POP TALK: FOOD TR.I.P. (Restos near Sementeryos)

The Department of Education reiterates that this year’s semestral break is from October 22 (Monday) to 25 (Thursday) as stated in the official calendar of activities for the School Year 2012-2013. Regular classes in all public elementary and secondary schools will resume on October 29, Monday. The school calendar, duly signed by Education Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro FSC, is stip

ulated in DepEd Order no. 26 series of 2012 released last April 4, 2012.

Strict compliance with the DepEd Order is required for all public elementary and secondary schools. However, due to previous suspension of classes brought about by inclement weather conditions, the Department gives full discretion to concerned field officials and/or school administrators on whether they will have a semestral break or use the days for makeup classes instead to meet the mandatory 180 days non-negotiable teacher-learners contact time.

Private schools may opt to deviate from the calendar, provided that the total number of school days is not compromised.
